Oct 09 Social Innovation Models with Uffe ElbaeckThis is a featured page

Uffe Elbaeck, the founder of Denmark’s innovative social design organization KaosPilot, generously shared his experience with using the KaosPilot models for social innovation with his leadership in organizing the recent Outgames 2009.

Uffe’s presentation and dialogue approach opened a context to explore effective participatory leadership and social change. Here he sets the stage, creating an Inquiry Panel of questioners on the left side, and a Reflection Panel on the right side of the room. He asks the Inquiry Panel to "listen to what I"m not saying." The Reflection team is asked to reflect on responses, and what was seen or felt.

Uffe presents model after model on the whiteboard, sharing the history of the World Outgames event, and his approaches for cultural design and innovation. Here we see his evolving sketch of the intimately connected universe of stakeholders in the envisioning and organization of the event.

Who else might be a stakeholder? (Where am I in this picture?)

Uffe shares the basic KaosPilot design cycle, an organizational design system for managing communication and developing the right concept, after understanding the level of Purpose, Values, and Needs to be addressed.

Uffe explains the essential notion of ensuring Ideas are supported by understood Needs, Purpose, and Values well in advance of co-creating a Concept.

Uffe Elbaeck provided three reports to present and discuss the social entrepreneurship of the World Outgames, linked below.

1. The project Prospectus and concept paper, "Love of Freedom and Freedom to Love" the vision and planning document produced 18 months before the WO event. (File is 54K too large to upload. Please email Peter for a copy.)

2. A World Outgames project status report, discussing the progress, impact, and sucecss of the project before the event itself.

3. A reflection of the event as a social entrepreneurship strategy prepared AFTER the games.
